How can innovative solutions for cleaner waters and a circular economy achieve widespread uptake and real-world implementation?
The Mission Ocean & Waters Matchmaking Workshop brings together solution providers and end-users to exchange knowledge, discuss practical applications, and explore opportunities for collaboration. The interactive online event is aimed at municipalities, national and regional authorities, waste management organisations, port authorities, industrial stakeholders, research institutions, NGOs, and others working on clean waters and circularity.
The workshop will showcase innovations from:
- SeaClear 2.0: an integrated fleet of autonomous surface, underwater, and aerial robots that use AI to detect, map, and collect marine litter, coordinated by a central unmanned "mothership";
- CAPTOPLASTIC: a reusable, non-toxic microplastic removal and monitoring system that uses magnetic "captor" particles to aggregate and extract microplastics from water streams;
- Bubble Barrier: a fish-friendly bubble curtain system that guides plastic waste toward a catchment unit using rising air bubbles and natural water flow, removing pollution from rivers before it reaches the ocean without disrupting ship traffic or infrastructure;
- CirCleaner: a mechanical, flow-powered collection system that uses a rotating paddle wheel to lift floating and near surface plastic debris into a container, capturing waste before it can move downstream into marine environments.
Participants will have the opportunity to:
- discover innovative solutions from the Mission Ocean & Waters Solutions Library;
- meet solution owners and discuss practical applications;
- explore opportunities for collaboration, replication, and implementation;
- exchange experiences with stakeholders working on similar challenges across Europe.
The workshop is moderated by Ecologic Institute and co-organised with the Technopolis Group, coordinator of the Mission Ocean, Seas and Waters Implementation Support Platform.
