Since 1995, Ecologic Institute contributed to the strategic development of European Environmental Policy through large-scale international collaborations and framework agreements with EU Institutions. With our key partner, the Institute for European Environmental Policy (IEEP) and our presence in strategic locations, we work to overcome political obstacles and strengthen relations with EU institutions. The opening of the Brussels office ten years ago paved the way for an even stronger role of Ecologic Institute at the European level. Ecologic Institute celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Brussels office in September, together with our sponsors, partners and colleagues.

The establishment of the Brussels office served to help strengthen awareness of environmental challenges at the EU level. The Brussels office facilitates access and encourages participation of Ecologic Institute in EU affairs, creating further opportunities and fostering new and valuable alliances. Reaching across political boundaries, face-to-face relationships are cultivated and the opportunity to provide support to EU actors at all levels is guaranteed. The anniversary celebration took place at the end of 2011 in Brussels, parallel to the In-Stream Conference that Ecologic institute is organising with the support of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Research & Innovation.
