Full- or part time as soon as possible

The Water Team at the Ecologic Institute is engaged in several projects dealing with water governance and management, water ecosystems protection and restoration, water and adaptation, water economics and the associated policy processes. In our work we focus on questions like: what goals need to be set - and for whom? What role does strategic, long-term planning play in achieving these set goals, and how should effective monitoring be designed? Who should be involved in the processes, in what capacity and for what purposes? And what is the legal framework in which these aspects are organized and coordinated?

If this piques your interest, the Water Team of the Ecologic Institute is looking forward to your application as scientist with expertise in research and consultancy!

Your tasks:

  • Conducting and supporting projects with a focus on water resources management, climate change adaptation and mitigation at regional and national levels,
  • conducting scientific analyses and preparing reports based on literature and data research, interviews with experts and exchange with stakeholders,
  • contributing to the development of environmental policy solutions and policy recommendations,
  • developing stakeholder engagement processes,
  • supporting the analysis and evaluation of global, EU and regional policy processes around water and adaptation topics,
  • acquisition of new projects in the field of water resource management and adaptation.

Your profile: 

  • Master´s degree in environmental sciences, natural resource management, water resource management, environmental engineering, spatial planning or a comparable degree, a relevant PhD is an advantage,
  • minimum of three years relevant work experience,
  • expertise in at least one of the following topics would be desirable: regional and national water and/or adaptation policy, planning of green and blue infrastructure or other adaptation measures, stakeholder engagement methods, socio-economic assessments,
  • experience in project acquisition,
  • excellent analytical skills,
  • very good skills in presenting project results in writing,
  • interest and the ability to quickly familiarize oneself with new environmental policy topics,
  • team player with the ability to work independently and in an interdisciplinary manner,
  • excellent German skills, both written and spoken, good English language skills.
