Umweltbundesamt (2019): River restoration in the context of different interests. Infographic. Online: uba.de/partrenat

Many interests come together when considering rivers. For restoration projects, new compromises must be reached and conflicts of use must be resolved through planning processes. Early, open and regular communication between all stakeholders increases the satisfaction with the restoration result.

The infographic is licensed under a Creative Commons CC BY-ND 4.0 license, i.e. it may be used unchanged if the author is named. The infographic is part of a series of four infographics on river restoration developed by Ecologic Institute for the German Federal Environment Agency's information platform on river restoration.

Administrations, water management associations, non-profit organisations, farmers or the local population – many stakeholders are involved in river restoration projects. Early cooperation and participation enable acceptance and planning security.
