On behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment, and Climate Protection of the State of Brandenburg (MLUK), the market information meeting "Organic Value Chains for Community Catering" took place on 19 November 2024.

The event provided a platform to discuss opportunities and challenges in organic-regional value chains for institutional catering, develop practical solutions, and foster new collaborations among regional producers, processors, retailers, caterers, and other relevant stakeholders.

Event Highlights

Morning Session:
The first part of the event featured presentations and case studies from stakeholders across the value chain – from producers and processors to institutional catering suppliers and caterers. Among the contributors were SpeiseGut, GEKO Uckermärkische Fruchthandelsgesellschaft mbH, Terra Naturkost, BlauArt Catering, and the Studierendenwerk Ost: Brandenburg.

Afternoon Session:
Two interactive workshops in the afternoon delved deeper into key topics:

  • Collaboration between producers and gastronomy/canteens with a contribution from Biohof Werder
  • Opportunities through the "bio Brandenburg" quality label with insights from the MLUK

The event was a successful step toward strengthening organic-regional value chains in Brandenburg.

The event was organized by the Ecologic Institute as part of Brandenburg’s Organic Action Plan.
