ZirTeNet participated in the Aachen-Dresden-Denkendorf International Textile Conference (ADD-ITC) on 27 and 28 November 2025 at the Eurogress Aachen, offering an overview of current research activities within the collaborative projects dedicated to transforming the textile sector. At the information booth in the foyer, Doris Knoblauch and Yannick Heni presented recent developments in the ongoing projects and engaged in extensive discussions with experts from academia, industry, and policy.
Six collaborative projects were represented at the stand, in the poster sessions, or through oral presentations. The ReCovery project demonstrated the untapped potential of used cotton textiles. HoliTexCycle introduced, among other results, a product-specific durability framework. The ZirKuS project focuses on extending the service life of artificial turf systems while improving their recyclability. 1K-Verbund is developing a mono-material composite for technical applications that enables significantly more efficient recycling processes.
Hanna Karg, representing UEBER-AUS and TheKey, presented a poster detailing life-cycle assessment insights for textile products based on natural and fossil-based fibers. Finally, TheKey presented - both on stage and via poster - how cotton fibers influence the depolymerisation of polyester and the recovery of high-quality PET monomers.
The conference generated strong interest, and ZirTeNet's diverse project portfolio provided valuable insights into current research questions and emerging pathways for advancing sustainability in the textile sector.
