Ecologic Institute and its partners are pleased to announce the 2014 Arctic Summer College and are seeking applications from emerging leaders working to improve Arctic governance from around the world.
Am Tag der Erde 2013 haben das Center for Strategic and International Studies und das Ecologic Institut offiziell das Arctic Summer College 2013 ins Leben gerufen. Wie bereits im Jahr 2012 erfolgreich geschehen, verband das Arctic Summer College 2013 erneut zukünftige Führungskräfte und Experten, die zwischen dem 8. Juli und dem 26. August zu einer Reihe von Onlineseminaren zusammenkamen. Ziel des achtwöchigen Programms war es, ein dauerhaftes, auf praxisrelevante Inhalte fokussiertes professionelles Netzwerk zu etablieren, um den Austausch zwischen Menschen und Nationen wie auch wissenschaftlichen Disziplinen und Politikfeldern zu fördern.
On 8 July 2013, Ecologic Institute began the 2013 Arctic Summer College. Ecologic Institute's Arctic Program hosts the program alongside a number of institutional partners: the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS); the Embassy of Canada, Germany; the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN); and the WWF Global Arctic Programme.
On Earth Day 2013, the Center for Strategic and International Studies and Ecologic Institute officially launched the 2013 Arctic Summer College. Following successful programs in 2011 and 2012, the Arctic Summer College 2013 again creates a network of emerging leaders and experts that are brought together for 8 weeks in web-based seminars (webinars) from 8 July to 26 August 2013 on Mondays from 18:00-20:00 Central European Time. The program aims to build a lasting, policy-oriented network of Arctic professionals to strengthen communication between peoples and nations, scientific disciplines, policy areas, and across the science-policy field to improve environmental governance in the Arctic region.
On the occasion of the launch of the 2013 Arctic Summer College, the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) Europe Program and Ecologic Institute welcomed William M. Eichbaum, vice president of Marine and Arctic Policy of the World Wildlife Fund, R. Andreas Kraemer, Director of Ecologic Institute, and Dr. Kelly K. Falkner, Director of Polar Programs of the National Science Foundation for a conversation on the environmental and social impacts of a rapidly changing Arctic. The discussion can be watched online.
Ecologic Institute is proud to be launching its 2012 Arctic Summer College, a virtual course and network aiming to strengthen Arctic communication and build a lasting, policy-oriented network of Arctic professionals. Policy briefs and videos of speaker presentations will be made publicly available on the Arctic Summer College website following each weekly seminar.
The Arctic Summer College builds a policy-oriented network of Arctic professionals from different disciplines and regions to share and discuss ideas with expert speakers via online webinars. The Arctic Summer College Website was realised by Ecologic Institute as an informational backbone of the network. Users can access the blog for news as well as refer to the archived webinar sessions.
The Arctic Summer College 2011, hosted by Ecologic Institute, provides a platform for Arctic researchers to debate and develop ideas about a range of issues facing Arctic decision-makers, such as: Arctic economic, environmental and security policy; the impacts of large scale energy projects at the regional scale; and approaches to ecosystem-based management.
