International Climate Finance: Institutions in the climate regime – Book Chapter
How has the institutional design of international climate finance evolved under the UN climate treaties, and how well does the current governance architecture work today? In the book chapter "International Climate Finance: Institutions in the Climate Regime", Ecologic Institute Senior Fellow Dr Ralph Bodle examines the legal and institutional structures that have developed from the UNFCCC to the Paris Agreement and beyond. The chapter examines key bodies such as the Green Climate Fund, the Adaptation Fund and the Fund for Responding to Loss and Damage, highlighting both legal innovation and persistent governance challenges. It appears in the Research Handbook on Climate Finance and Investment Law, published by Edward Elgar in 2025.
Sustainable Management of the Landscape Water Balance to Increase Climate Resilience – Report
The final report of the KliMaWerk project presents concrete recommendations for strengthening climate resilience in landscape water management. Based on field research, coupled surface–groundwater modelling and a co-design process with regional stakeholders, the project shows that nature-based, large-scale measures and coordinated governance approaches are more effective than isolated technical solutions. A modular toolbox supports decision-makers in practical implementation.
Incentivising Systemic and Climate-resilient Farming Approaches through Rewarding Mechanisms – Policy Brief
This policy brief examines whether existing climate-action rewarding mechanisms adequately reflect organic farming as a systemic and climate-resilient approach. It analyses monetary, regulatory and supportive instruments at EU level, with a particular focus on the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and the Carbon Removal and Carbon Farming (CRCF) Regulation.
Toolkit for Nature-Based Climate Adaptation
The new toolkit for nature-based climate adaptation on the German Climate Prevention Portal (KLiVO Portal) supports municipalities in planning, implementing and embedding nature-based solutions over the long term. It brings together quality-assured tools, guidelines and planning aids and structures them along key stages of municipal action, from initial orientation to maintenance and evaluation. The toolkit was developed by Ecologic Institute on behalf of the German Federal Environment Agency.
Storage and Pre-processing: Infrastructure for Regional Products – Market Information Talk 2026
How can storage and pre-processing of regional products be organised in a future-proof way? The first Market Information Talk in Brandenburg on 12 March 2026 focuses on key infrastructure challenges – from limited capacities for peeling, cooling and storage to cooperation and funding options. Using concrete examples from different production areas, the event highlights how organic farms can strengthen regional value chains and improve their market position. Organic farmers in Brandenburg are warmly invited to register.
Ecosystem-based Adaptation for Coastal Resilience (II) – Online Workshop
The virtual workshop on 22 and 23 April 2026 brings together experts from research and practice as well as policymakers to discuss how participatory approaches, local knowledge and strong partnerships can improve the design, implementation and governance of ecosystem-based adaptation initiatives in coastal contexts. Registration is open.
Blue Transformation of Mediterranean Fisheries
How can sustainable fisheries in the Mediterranean succeed? In the Horizon Europe project SEA4FUTURE, fishers’ experiential knowledge is systematically integrated into new monitoring and management approaches. Initial ethnographic field research shows how closely practical knowledge and scientific insights can complement each other.
