Ecologic Institute in partnership with Milieu and Fresh-Thoughts, is supporting the European Commission in a 4-year framework contract on EU water and marine policies for nature, resilience, sustainability, prosperity, and competitiveness.

The EU water and marine legislation covered under this framework contract includes the Water Framework Directive, Groundwater Directive, Environmental Quality Standards Directive, Floods Directive, Drinking Water Directive, Urban Waste Water Treatment Directive, Bathing Water Directive, the Marine Strategy Framework Directive, and the Water Reuse Regulation.

The consortium will provide expertise across a wide range of technical, legal, economic, and scientific areas. In particular, this framework contract provides services to the European Commission in relation to the following: regular reporting and assessment exercises linked to the implementation of a broad set of EU water and marine legislation, studies and analyses to inform policy development, assessments of acquis implementation, policy reviews and impact assessments, support for events and ad hoc technical tasks, work on compliance cases.

The legal instruments that make up the core of the EU water acquis should be implemented in a coherent and effective manner across the EU.
