Ecologic Institute experts will convene and contribute to three sessions at the upcoming Nature-based Solutions (NbS) International Congress in Paris from 2 to 6 November 2026. The sessions were selected as part of a competitive scientific conference programme featuring 33 sessions chosen from more than 100 international proposals. The Congress has now opened its Call for Abstracts and Posters, inviting researchers and practitioners to contribute to the thematic sessions and engage with the global NbS scientific community.

Ecologic Institute researchers are involved in the following sessions:

  • From Principles to Practice: Participatory Methods for Engaging Commonly Excluded Stakeholders in NbS Governance under IUCN Criterion 5 explores practical approaches for involving underrepresented stakeholders in the planning and governance of nature-based solutions. This session is organised by Ecologic Institute’s Nature-based Solutions Coordinator, McKenna Davis, and builds on her recent report for the European Commission on this topic.
  • Socio-Ecological Justice in Scaling Nature-based Solutions examines how justice and equity considerations can be integrated into the scaling of nature-based solutions across different governance and socio-ecological contexts. This session is co-hosted by McKenna Davis together with colleagues from the FairNature project. Abstract submissions are open.
  • Implementing Sponge Landscapes – The Role of NbS in Enhancing Climate Resilience at Landscape Scale focuses on how nature-based solutions can support climate adaptation and water resilience through landscape-scale “sponge landscape” approaches. Lindsey Hendricks-Franco, representing the project "Guidance on Climate Resilient Landscapes", is co-hosting the session with the coordinators of SpongeWorks, SpongeScapes, SpongeBoost and the open workroom SPONGE LANDSCAPES in Brussels. Abstract submissions are open.
