Ecologic Institute (2026): Naturbasierte Maßnahmen für klimaresiliente Städte: Zehn Ansätze für die kommunale Praxis. Commissioned by the German Environment Agency (UBA), project “Climate Adaptation Naturally! Nature-based solutions for communities". Infographic series. Berlin.
Cities are increasingly facing challenges from heat, heavy rainfall, and drought. Nature-based measures offer a wide range of approaches to address these developments while simultaneously improving quality of life in urban areas. This infographic series developed by Ecologic Institute illustrates ten key nature-based adaptation measures and highlights their effects on the urban climate, water balance, and biodiversity.
The series is primarily aimed at municipal stakeholders in planning, administration, and policy, and is intended to support the selection of suitable measures and their integration into existing processes.
The infographics cover the following measures:
- Green facades
- Green roofs
- Urban trees
- Depaving (soil sealing removal)
- Swale–infiltration systems
- Roadside green strips with infiltration areas
- Wetlands and urban water bodies
- Deep-rooted vegetation and biodiversity areas
- Green corridors
- River restoration
The infographics were developed as part of the project “Climate Adaptation Naturally! Nature-based solutions for communities” for the German Environment Agency (UBA).
