Information and Teaching Materials for an Environmentally Conscious Use of Pharmaceuticals

Project
Duration
-

The project "Information and teaching materials for an environmentally conscious use of pharmaceuticals", led by Ecologic Institute, aims to promote an environmentally responsible use of human pharmaceuticals and to anchor the topic of pharmaceuticals and the environment in pharmaceutical and medical teaching. The overriding goal is to reduce the entry of pharmaceuticals into the environment and their effects on animals and plants. To this end, freely available teaching materials are developed for university teaching, for professional trainings and for vocational schools. In addition, customer information materials on the proper disposal of end-of-life medicines are created and disseminated. Finally, all information and materials will be made available on an online information platform at www.umweltbundesamt.de.

The information platform is intended to provide doctors and pharmacists with specialist environmental information which they can use in direct contact with their patients and customers. Another focus of the project is the creation of teaching materials for pharmaceutical and medical education (vocational schools, universities, training).

The project has a duration of two years (Oct 2021 - Sep 2023) and is funded by the German Federal Environmental Agency. A project consortium consisting of Ecologic Institute, the Institute of Pharmacy of the Christian-Albrechts-University Kiel (Prof. Dr. Christian Peifer) and the Institute of Toxicology and Pharmacology for Natural Scientists at the University Medical Center Schleswig-Holstein (Prof. Dr. Edmund Maser) is in charge of the implementation.

If you are interested in being informed about the project results at the end of the project (autumn 2023) and maybe want to disseminate them in your networks, you can subscribe to our mailing list.
