Storage and Pre-processing: Infrastructure for Regional Products

Market Information Talk 2026

Event
Date
12 March 2026 | 12:00–17:30
Location
Beelitz (Zauchwitz) – Syringhof, Germany
Speaker
Timo Kaphengst

The first event focuses on storage and pre-processing – two areas in which regionally and organically operating farms often encounter limited capacities or missing infrastructure. Central questions include:

  • Which measures and investments are needed to close processing gaps in peeling, cutting, cooling, or storage?
  • Which cooperation and funding models are suitable for jointly developing such infrastructure?
  • How can existing capacities be better utilised and new structures efficiently established?

Using examples from vegetable, grain, niche crop and legume processing and storage, the event highlights concrete solution pathways. The format also aims to:

  • connect stakeholders from farming, processing, logistics, and retail,
  • foster knowledge and experience exchange, and
  • stimulate innovation for strengthening regional value chains.

Time and venue

Date: 12 March 2026

Time: 12:00–17:30, followed by a guided tour of the farm

Venue: Syringhof, Trebbiner Straße 69f, 14547 Beelitz (Zauchwitz)

Event Programme

In the first part, we will engage stakeholders from community catering and processing in a discussion on concrete needs and requirements regarding infrastructure.

Building on this, practical input sessions will provide insights into the pre-processing of vegetables and niche crops, as well as into on-farm and cooperative storage of potatoes, cereals and other crops. These inputs will highlight existing bottlenecks and outline potential solutions.

In the second part, we will work in in-depth workshops on concrete approaches and discuss next steps for strengthening Brandenburg’s organic value chains in a closing session.

The event offers space for exchange and networking along the entire value chain – from primary production through (pre-)processing and logistics to wholesale and community catering.

The programme is available online and can be accessed via the link.
