Researchers at Ecologic Institute have developed a new tool to help governments to produce socially just climate adaptation strategies. The Just2Adapt tool allows the user to analyse the justice dimensions of Heat Action Plans at the strategic level as well as at the level of individual measures. It is important that heat adaptation strategies integrate social justice considerations because of the unequal way in which the heat-health effects of climate change are distributed across the population.

Draft of the First National Restoration Plan

The development of the National Restoration Plan (NRP) is a key step towards implementing the EU Nature Restoration Regulation (EU 2024/1991). This regulation requires all Member States to plan and implement concrete measures to restore degraded ecosystems and halt biodiversity loss. The Ecologic Institute leads the project, which provides technical and administrative assistance to the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN) and the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN) in the preparation of the first draft of the NRP.

Innovative research methods, an orientation on practice and a transdisciplinary approach ensure scientific excellent and social relevance. The work done at Ecologic Institute covers the spectrum of environmental topics and includes the integration of environment-related issues into other political spheres.

Ecologic Institute was founded in 1995 and collaborates closely with other European and international bodies, including active participation as a member of the Ecological Research Network (Ecornet). Today, the more than 100 individuals at Ecologic Institute work in a variety of international and interdisciplinary project teams.
