Climate Change Summer School for Journalists 2017

February 2017 to June 2017

Journalists, like the general public, often wrestle with the complex scientific foundations, politics and economics of climate change and its solutions. The Climate Change Summer School for Journalists addressed this very challenge with the primary aim of improving media coverage around the implementation of the Paris Agreement. Seventeen journalists from Africa, Asia and Latin America and the Caribbean participated in the ten-day training course. The Project "A Taste of the Future of the Seas" brings scientific insights about sustainable use and protection of oceans to the public with an interactive series of events held at the Museum for Natural History in Berlin. Three dialogue-oriented and action-packed formats offered the opportunity to learn about advances and challenges in sustainable marine science - and motivated participants through fun, sensory experiences to act and consume consciously.Read more

The Emerging Leaders in Environmental and Energy Policy Network – Podcast Series

The ELEEP Network podcast series focuses on current developments in climate and energy policy on both sides of the Atlantic, delivering in-depth discussion and expert interviews on a range of pressing topics. The latest four episodes feature insights from the June 2017 ELEEP conference on "Tipping Points - Finding the Energy Climate Balance," including keynote talks by some of the brightest minds in the field. The Energy Transition in Germany Explained – Study Tours for International Journalists

August 2016 to December 2016

Between September and December 2016, Ecologic Institute, the International Journalist Programme (IJP) and Clean Energy Wire (CLEW) collaboratively organized five study tours on the German energy transition for journalists from North and Latin America, Africa and Asia. While the history and current state of Germany's energy transition was at the heart of the five study tours, each tour aimed at providing the participants with tailored information relevant for the field of energy and climate policy in their respective home countries.

Wangeliner Workcamps – A green idea of future

July 2016 to November 2018
This project oversees the organization of workcamps for German youth interested in green professions during vacations in 2016-2018. Participation in the one week long vocational camps in Wangelin, Mecklenburg is free of charge. Themes of the workcamps include the construction of mudbrick buildings, murals, ecologically-oriented architecture, clay ovens, upcycling, renewable energy and organic gardening. Registration to the workcamps in 2018 is now open.Read more
